That's right, Ozarks area street vehicles are finally getting thier own night with the track just to themselves.  No pro/mods to share time with, no hassles, nobody trying to chase you off their lot and best of all:  no tickets.    You are welcome to show up and watch, or just hang out and BS, or if you have the guts you can run with the big dogs.

Wes over at Ozark International Raceway gave this a shot last year, and it went over so well that it has become a regular thing! This is the real deal, on a 1/4 mile track with starting lights, elapsed time and timeslips to prove that you are what you say you are.  So it's put up or shut up, run it here or stow the bragging, it's street car night at OIR!

Those of you who were here for last year's Midnight Drags know just how well everything went:  the lanes moved fast, there were a huge number of races ran, and everyone had a blast.  Make sure you don't miss it THIS time if you wimped out last time.

The Details

Why:  The drag strip is a place where driving your car as fast as you can is encouraged.  Where burnouts are encouraged.  Where you can settle disputes and find out once and for all who has the fastest ride with no ambiguity.  There's a starting line and a finish line, and that's where it all counts.  And best of all, it's legal.  No hassles, no big tickets, no points off your license, nobody shaking their head because you have a hot car.  Also there will only be street cars (and trucks, and bikes!) at this event, so no pro/mods which should mean very little waiting for a run, if you are inclined to hot-lap over and over again.  OIR is going to cram in as many runs as time allows, so be ready to race.

Who:  This event is for street vehicles only.  That means that your ride has to have tags and insurance.  The idea is to drive your car to the track, race, and then drive it back home.  You are free to trailer your car in and run it with slicks, but if you want to be involved in any of the competitions you'll have to be running street tires, since this event is intended for STREET DRIVEN VEHICLES.  Bring out that daily driver and show everyone why you ponied up the extra cash for the big engine!

When:  Saturday, April 12 from midnight until 3am  (That is technically Sunday morning, the 13th).  You KNOW you are out cruising during that time, so why not show some guts and actually race that car?

WhereOzark International Raceway.  Entry fees are $12.00 if you want to run down the track (and why would you not?) and $10.00 for spectators.


What:  We will be trying a number of different events, with time and participation being the limiting factors.  Run what you brung!

This is a special opportunity and should not be passed up.  If you have ever been to the track before you are going to be pleased at how much smoother things will go when it is only street cars.  If you have never been to the track, I personally guarantee that you are going to have the time of your life.

Please note that there are no glass bottles allowed anywhere on the premises of OIR, and if you have had so much as a single drink then you are NOT allowed to run down the track, so please keep that in mind.

Notice:  The word from Ozark International Raceway is that mufflers will be required.

NOW WAIT JUST AMINUTE !!!!!!!What about us guys that think that we've got a lead foot but drive a truck? Do we fit in a little different class?

I think the lights should be set as regular 500 tree. If they want the pro tree just have them write pro-tree on the side glass or something to tell the tower to switch it

That's all pretty flexible. I am thinking we will probably have to come up with a 13.0 or a 13.5 class since I think there are going to be more cars of that caliber there than I anticipated originally.

As a note of clarification: The event is SATURDAY NIGHT, or you might also say SUNDAY MORNING. People will start showing up at 11pm on the 14th, the event starts at midnight but it is not Saturday morning, it is Saturday NIGHT/Sunday Morning.

I hope this helps to confuse things.

A .500 tree is the standard rolling tree. It rolls down the yellows and then into the green like what you are no doubt used to. A pro tree just flashes the yellows for a split second, all at once, then hits the green lights. It is difficult to predict and is a lot more like it would be if you were stoplight racing.

I am not sure yet which system they'll be using. I suspect that it will be a pro tree since that's more streety.

A .500 tree would benefit me because I am used to running on it. I think that a pro tree would level the field, light wise, but the .500 tree lends an air of authentication to the whole drag strip experience.

You leave on the bottom light anyway. The other two are kind of like "Ready,Set" and the bottom light is "Go". Why not just run like the big boys? Either way is cool with me. But if you move up to heads-up classes you are going to have to get good on the pro-tree sometime.
