Traction is one of the two parts to a drag race. Horespower and Traction wins races hands down. There are a couple of things that help us guys with the Fbodys with out spending a lot of money.

~ First Sub-Frame Connectors. Anyone should put this on the Fbodys before anything..even if you dont plan to race. This keeps the car from flexing. Your car will leave harder and you will feel stiffness of the chassis. Weld in connectors are the best I think, but there are a few companies like Spohn and Hoctkis that make bolt in or weld in. Its your choice. The price is around $100-300 depending on brands and instalation types.

~ Strut Tower Brace. This is under the hood. This bolts on top of the strut towers, and this like frame ties takes away the stress and flexing. It is great for hard cornering. If you check out Hawksthirdgenparts.com they have a few different brands anywere from $100 to 200.

~ This was the first mods I did to my car. Lower Control Arms and a Panhard bar or rod. A lot of diffenernt companys make theses and they are fairly inexpensive and made a big difference in the way my car handles. I felt harder take offs and more traction. There are adjustable and non-adjustable control arms and the panhard bar. I personlly got the non adjustable but I think I might try the other set.

~ The last big thing is the Torque arm. Edelbrock makes one, Sphon and Hoctkis are a few other choices. They also make this in adjustable or not. Some mount to just the back of the tranny and the rearend, and some are a weld in. This is one thing Im in the process of finding out what one to get. When I get it, I will post more about how it works. And again Hawksthirdgenparts.com have all the choices.

Well this should get anyone with an Fbody from 1982 to 2002 a pretty good idea of what needs to be done for traction. The last thing, Sticky tires..the wider and the slicker the better. I like Mickey Thompson the best. A buddy set of the Nitto NT555rs and they were a nice set to have if you wanted to leave them on the car for everday driving. But the ETs from Mickey..are one of the best DOT slicks... Jegs or Summit racing both will have what you are looking for.
