Me and Nathan finally dragged my car out of the bushes, cleaned it up and ended up getting it running. It's been sitting since 1992. Video to come...

Note all the green moss growing on the side. Nathan managed to power wash the vast majority off and it cleaned up surprisingly well.

Here's the astroroof- the least chosen option on this car...although this one has a big hillbilly attached to it (I decided to keep this added bonus )

It started with minimal effort. I didn't take off with it down the street or anything but it did start. Changed plugs and wires, cleaned the carb, hooked it to a battery and the crazy thing started. I think it really wants to run. Took a video of it starting like a champ, I just have to get it posted.

It starts! First start of the skyhawk. Sorry about the crappy video...it's pretty dark and not steady.

lol

I am hoping to keep the original motor for now just to get it running and see what it will do. It's definitely not going to be a fast car anytime soon. I actually want my mom to see it all restored and let her drive it a couple of times before it gets modified. There's a story behind the car.

I pulled the seats and carpet out of the car. The gas tank was in bad shape so hoping the second skyhawk (the extra parts car) has a good tank. Now I need to find something else I can do to it this week.

Give it a good cleaning? What are you going to do with the car? I'd keep stripping off what you don't need. Maybe give it a tune up? Put new carpet and seats in?

Ya know, I'm not real sure I have seen very many all glass roof cars. I think the 54 Ford Skyliners and there were a few Buicks in the early 60's, but not too many. If I were you, I would do a little research before cutting up the little car very much. I don't think it's Barret Jackson expensive, but still not very common. I've seen piles of T-tops, but a one piece roof is not what you see every day. It might be better to take some time and check before getting too crazy. If your parts car is not tore up or beat all to hell you may want to consider keeping the glass car as a Sunday driver. Do some restoration , fix what's wrong show it at different little shows or cruises. The parts car could be razed and pilaged and painted just like the other one, and few people may even notice you changed cars. That way, just in case, you haven't destroyed one of 6 cars ever produced with a glass top and killed any resale or profit.
