Wet roads, idiots hauling ass, ditches with boulder 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 9
After leaving the arcade last night, was coming on to 65 off of Chestnut. Guy was hauling ass in the fast lane and either thought he had me cleared or hydroplaned, I turned left and around I went. Into the ditch nose first, bounced spun around over a lollipop reflector post and against those nice big rocks they left in the ground. Rear bumper cover needs replaced, headlights and headlight brackets are broke, Front end is scratched all to hell and holding a bit of mud and grass, and the worst of all is the Drivers door and rocker panel. The rock did a number on the door putting a hole in it. Rocker was smashed inward in 1 spot, and right behind it was pushed in and up. Tweaked the a pillar where the door mounts so it is gonna be a bitch. After all of that though, it still drove just as straight as can be, with no other damage driving wise. Gotta love a chevy

That sucks James just glad to see that you are ok. Are you taking the car to a body shop?

Dear Santa
All I want for Christmas is two well prepped lanes and the folks that gather there each week. Being close to home and dry on summer Fridays would be a bonus.

Thanks guys, I honestly figured I would be a little more upset right now. Just noticed that something is askew in the front end. Pass side has 5/8" fender/hood gap, drivers has none. damn it.

Got an estimate today for kicks. Adjuster should be out tomorrow or Wednesday. $3025.75, unless there is some hidden stuff that he couldnt see. Front end is shifted, and not sure why.

This truly sucks. If I am not mistaken, you had the original paint on that car too, right?

The front end being shifted is troublesome, hopefully you can get it to a frame straightener that knows what he is doing. I can't help but wonder if the subframe work you did kept it from being even worse.

Did the airbags go off? Did you come flying out of the car and beat the living shit out of the other driver?

Most importantly, I take it no one was injured in the car?

I know that you are going to have a body shop do the work, but if you need ANY help with any part of it, let me know.

And look at it this way: If the exact same thing had happened to the Mark VIII, with the exact same damage, it would have been totaled. You'll be driving this one another day, better than new.

Yeah, Tyler and I were fine Devin. I didnt hop out of the car right away, I was really pissed and then I looked over and he was pretty scared. Guy who loves his car turned back into Dad real quick and I could have cared less about it to tell you the honest truth. Sat there calming him down for 2-3 minutes and then got out. Body shop will do the work, and he said it would go on the frame machine to straighten out the rocker atleast. Then the rocker will get cut out and replaced, along with the door.

He wasnt sure why the front was askew, except that maybe the radiator support got bent or something. The adjuster is supposed to be over tomorrow or Wednesday, and I will be taking it to the shop after that.

It was the original paint, and pretty much the front fascia, door, rear quarter, and rear panel will be repainted. Hopefully they can get it to match and blend it ok.

The bags didnt deploy, either we were going as slow as I remember, or the muddy ditch absorbed some of the G's and kept them low enough to prevent the bags from going out. I am 100% sure the 2x2 square tubing helped out a BUNCH. there was no way it was going to bend those, and I believe it prevented further damage.

I hope the hell it is. Depends on peoples schedules and stuff though. Still waiting on the adjuster to show up and look at it. Soon as that step is over, the process can proceed

That estimate seems low, on my 1994 Z-28 I got side-swiped and it got the rear quarter panel only, no frame, rocker, or door and it was $2100

He didnt figure any time on figuring out what has caused the front end to be cockeyed. Said he would have to tear it apart to find what was bent up front. With State Farm, the adjuster comes out and cuts you a check, and you take it to be fixed so I wasnt real caught up in an exact.

edit: Adjuster just left, $4623.81 in damage.
