Rain-Out Date June 28, 2009
Gates open at Noon
Racing starts at 3:00
This is the race for the rest of us... those of us who drive our cars to the track, drive them home again and then drive them to work the day after that. This is the race for the grocery getters, the kid haulers, the beaters that we love and pamper and work on and bleed on and push the very limits of engineering to make that most perfect fusion of race car and functional car: The Daily Dragster!
Bring out YOUR fast car. Bring out YOUR special pride and joy. You paid the extra money for the big engine, you have spent all the time to push the car to its limits, you have added power, polished intakes, scorched tires, ruined brakes, rubbed to a shine and busted knuckles making you car what it is, and we want to see what it will do! Bring your car out to the track and show it off!
We will be racing indexes, so there won't be anybody there trying to sneak under the radar. Indexes put an absolute on how fast each car can go so you can be guaranteed that you are going to be lined up against a car that you are competitive against. No lining up against a big-tire track dedicated car that can make a pass in half your time yet couldn't make the trip across town without needing a refuel and a cool down. This event is Daily Driver vs. Daily Driver, so we can find out just who really does have the fastest, best, most reliable car out there! Imports will be racing domestics, 4 cylinders will be racing 8s if they think they can, and classics will be racing moderns. YOU pick your index, so YOU will be picking your competitiion!
We will be running four index classes:
16.0 second
14.5 second
13.5 second
12.5 second
Passes will be 1/4 mile (natch, since these are actual street cars, after all). Pairings will be random.
Here's all the rules. If it isn't covered here, then it isn't important:
- This is a race for DAILY DRIVEN cars. You can bring out your weekend racer, but trailers are going to be frowned upon. Trailer it if you want, but be prepared for us actual road warriors to laugh at you.
- All cars must have a current license plate and inspection sticker, unless you are from a state that doesn't do inspections.
- All cars must have current insurance.
- All cars must run on D.O.T. street tires. This means that D.O.T. approved drag radials are allowed, but slicks are NOT. This race is for cars that actually get driven!
- If you want to tear your mufflers off and remove all your auto glass and put 6 power adders on your car after you get to the track, you are welcome to it. We do ask that the car is entirely street legal when it arrives and when it leaves.
- First and Second place cars will recieve trophies.
Race Admission : $20.00
Spectator Admission: $10.00
So what happens if you don't think that you fit into any of these indexes? Well if you are slower than a 16.0, speed your car up. If you are faster than 12.5, we will be running two classes that are heads-up, no restrictions. That means no brackets, no handicapping because of motor size, no limits. As long as you fit in the rules and can go fast, you can race in these classes, and we will be offering a 100% payout on these races. If you think you are one of the big dogs and are willing to put it all on the line, then pick your class and go for it:
Normally Aspirated Engines
Power Added Engines
That's right, if your 10 second Supra enters the race, you might end up lined up against a 10 second Supercharged Mustang. In these races THE FASTEST CAR WINS, period.
We may also be offering additional prizes as sponsorship gets lined up.
Index racing rules:
- Indexes are broken into 4 classes; 16.0, 14.5, 13.5 and 12.5
- Indexes are self selected by the driver. Once you select an index, you cannot change.
- Qualifying
runs may or may not be allowed, depending on how many cars are
participating. If you need qualifying runs, it is strongly suggested
that you attend the Test and Tune on June 26th.
-
The car that crosses the 1/4 mile line first without "breaking out" is called the winner.
-
Cars are considered "broken out" and lose the race if they have an elapsed time lower than their index.
-
Red lighting forfeits the race.
- In the case of dual red-lights, the car with the slowest reaction time wins.
- In the case of dual break outs, the car closest to the index wins. (The slowest car).
- Pairings will be random, and lane choice will be random. Drivers may change lanes if both agree.
